Session One: "It's a dangerous business, Frodo..."

"...going out your front door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

Bilbao's words echo a bit, right? We're here to step onto a new road. By now you have the syllabus, and you've probably read through it or are about to read it. You're wondering if an online course can really help you create change.

The only way to find out is to take that first step.

Here are your assignments for this week:

1.  Take the enneagram full test, $12.  the link to it is listed in the syllabus. The full test will take about 45 minutes. While on the website, poke around. There is a ton of useful information about the 9 structures of personality.  You will want to try and guess which one of these is your home base.  Very important to remember: this assessment does not pigeonhole you into one way of being.  The results will indicate a preference, a home base, and you will get to know yourself through that home base lens. There are wings, and integrations/disintegrations, and levels, and types.  I've worked with all of these and someday you might interested enough in it to study the enneagram more deeply.  For now, read the basic types, even take the free test if you feel called, and, BEFORE you take the full test, make a guess at what you think your home base will be. When you have results, post them as a comment here on the blog.  (You may want to bookmark this url, so you can easily find it every day.  It is my hope that there will be rich interaction here.)

2. Exercise:  what make you happy, sing, silly with joy?  Write down ten things about your day that fit this description.  Next what makes you sorry, sigh, and fussy?  Write down those things too.

3. Next write a short intro about yourself that makes you come alive on paper, or the internet. 500 words.  If you're comfortable, please post that as well.

4. Please write down your intentions for this course.  Are you working on something specific? Tell me or the group what that is.

Happy Tuesday,
